External SMTP Relay
It includes application or devices that need sending of mail to external recipients. Although the default connector of frontend Transport receive permits internal SMTP relay it will not permit external SMTP relay. In order to configure relay connector exchange 2013, user can use Telnet to send an email, which is external to organization. To permit the specific application or device to relay to external recipients that requires configuration of new receive connector. In Exchange Admin Center, user can navigate to Mail Flow then choose Receive Connectors. Choose the server that user can wish to produce on a new connector.
Note: Server should be either Client Access server or multi-role server.
Choose the plus (+) icon for the creation of a new receives connector.
Now give the name of new connector. Various default connectors of Exchange are named by using standard of “Purpose SERVERNAME”
User needs to select the Frontend Transport role, if the selected server is multi-role. If the server is CAS-only then, Frontend Transport will be automatically chosen.
Now select the type to Custom >> Next.
Single Network Adapter for servers, the default binding will be fine.
Click on Finish for creating the new receive connector.
Now, for receive connectors configure some additional settings. Click on the icon “pencil” to edit its settings. Choose the Security and select the Anonymous Users box and click on the Save button to apply settings. In the final step, grant the anonymous users to send external recipients.
